First and foremost, thanks for all the watches, favs, and comments. It means a lot to me even if I'm too busy to respond to every single one. Thank you, thank you. ^_^
Currently I'm debating whether or not I'll continue posting my art here. More and more I suspect deviantart is turning into another tokyopop.com full of petty revenge driven art thieves. As some of you may have noticed, I'm in the process of fighting over copyrights to "Daughter of the Abhorsen." As of yet, DA has not cited any specifics as to what aspect of the piece has been deemed an infringement. The only case where I can see this not being resolved quickly (seeing as I hold the original psd and line art)is if the claim was made by the publisher. Still, I've checked the fan art policy and the piece complies fully. ...How irritating.
If I decide to move my artwork to someplace more professional, I'll be sure to provide a link to the new gallery. You can also find some of my student art on my professor's website which I will add a link to once I determine whether or not I want to stay with DA.
Edit: So, it seems that (contrary to my understanding) because DOTA uses aspects from the original (for example, the key pattern on the clothing reworked and painted over to blend with the rest of the image) the entire image is considered a copyright violation. Yes, even though adaption of such minute details is not mentioned in the fan art policy (except for that users who want to use them are advised to 'throw in their own touches and make them their own.) Well, that didn't save me. Hopefully this can be seen as a warning to anyone else who may use such patterns in their fan art. In any case, DOTA will be back up once I have gone back and meticulously hand painted a thousand tiny little keys, which right now...is feeling like an awful lot of work just to show my admiration for the original. Still, I know it was a favorite of many of you, so I'll do it for you guys......probably sometime after the end of the semester.
